Bronwyn P’ril was born on Vulcan to an unwed Vulcan woman. Both P’ril and her mother, T’rel, claim that her father is the human James Abagnale, but since her mother was unmarried at the time of her birth, the father could not be listed on the birth certificate. Several DNA tests have been done, but the results are inconclusive. She was given both a human and a Vulcan name on the insistence of Abagnale, who wished to wed T’rel.
When Bronwyn was 5 years old, Abagnale, the man she had known as her father, finally married her mother and they moved to Earth- specifically Detroit- where Bronwyn was given piano lessons and sent to public schools. Since she had spent the first part of her life among Vulcans, she did not get along well with the human children and did not make friends easily. She did not seem to mind, however, and kept to herself throughout primary school. In secondary school, she found herself in the attention of most of the boys, but ignored them for the most part. This, along with her piano playing- which had improved dramatically over the years- earned her the grudging respect of a small group of girls who eventually became her only friends. She still keeps in touch with Lily Banks, Kimberly LaFramboise and Yolanda Garcia.
Upon graduation, her mother sent her back to Vulcan to live with her grandparents so she could study Engineering to a greater degree than was offered on Earth. While there, her grandparents arranged a marriage for her with Dr. Soral- a respected doctor near the same age as Bronwyn’s grandfather. Bronwyn did not like him at first, but agreed to the marriage at her mother’s insistence.
Both Soral and Bronwyn were placed on the Valiant, Earth’s second warp ship, as Vulcan liaisons, though Bronwyn quickly stepped out of the roll in favor of a more neutral place and simply used her engineering skills to the best of her abilities, even when that meant violating Vulcan laws about sharing technology. (This decision has saved lives more than once.) She kept this from her husband, however, in fear that he may see fit to inform their superiors on Vulcan.
While serving aboard the Valiant, her parents were brutally murdered by the terrorist group, “Earth First,” who saw it as their mission to rid the Earth of non-humans. Bronwyn visited her parents’ graves, then vowed never to return to Earth, believing the danger to be too great. A friend bought her an orange cat, hoping the animal would give her comfort and company after her parents’ death. She named him Meow Ming (because Yao Ming plays basketball and basketballs are orange) and he has become like a member of her family. Even Soral was able to get along with him.
Shortly after Soral left the Valiant to care for his ailing mother, P’ril decided to leave, too, to be with her husband, whom she had grown quite fond of. Vulcan did not have need for Engineers, however, and P’ril soon became bored. When the offer to join the Endeavor came, Soral urged her to accept, seeing how unhappy she was with nothing to do. After some consideration, she took the offer and set off for her new assignment.

Bronwyn is friendly, though quiet. She gives off an elegant grace of which only a Vulcan raised among humans is capable. She is often seen to give the ghost of a smile at times. Her face shows several emotions including anger, fear, stress, annoyance and humor, but she never allows her emotions to rule her. Typical to Vulcans, she has good control over her emotions. She has been known to insist that she is only half Vulcan- the other half being human- but this has not been proved and DNA tests have been inconclusive. |

Bronwyn is tall and deceptively slim. She has the dense muscle mass typical of Vulcans and is therefore heavier than she looks. Her hair is long and, along with her delicately pointed ears, gives her a decidedly Tolkein’s Elf look. |
