1768 - The HM Bark Endeavour commanded by Lieutenant James Cook, the 18th century British explorer, navigator and astronomer, in his voyage of exploration in the Pacific. On Endeavour's maiden voyage in August 1768, Cook sailed to the South Pacific (to observe and record the infrequent event of the planet Venus passing between the Earth and the sun). Determining the transit of Venus enabled early astronomers to find the distance of the sun from the Earth, which then could be used as a unit of measurement in calculating the parameters of the universe. In 1769, Cook was the first person to fully chart New Zealand (which was previously visited in 1642 by the Dutchman Abel Tasman from the Dutch province of Zeeland). Cook also surveyed the eastern coast of Australia , navigated the Great Barrier Reef and traveled to Hawaii.
1914 - World War I
1939 - World War II
1957 - Well documented at the Vulcan Science Directorate and Space Council, but against common human knowledge, a small Vulcan survey ship crash-landed in Carbon Creek, Pennsylvania, a mining town, in 1957 prior to official First Contact. Sent to investigate the launch of Earth's first artificial satellite, Sputnik, the vessel's impulse manifold began to malfunction during the third week of intelligence gathering, forcing the crew to attempt an emergency landing.
1989 - For the first time, a national competition involving students in elementary and secondary schools produced the name of the new orbiter; it was announced by President George Bush.
1991 - The Space Shuttle orbiter Endeavour was delivered to Kennedy Space Center in May.
1992 - The space shuttle Endeavour flew its first mission, highlighted by the dramatic rescue of a stranded communications satellite, a year later in May. Endeavour was commonly refered to as OV-105, for Orbiter Vehicle-105.
2002 - On Saturday, November 9, 2002, the Endeavour lauched on her 19th mission, bound for the the International Space Station.
2026 - World War III begins over the issue of genetic engineering and Human genome enhancement. Among the major players of the war is Colonel Phillip Green, whose actions led to some 37 million deaths.
2063 - First Contact took place on the evening of April 5, 2063, when a Vulcan survey ship, the T'Plana-Hath, having detected the warp signature of the Phoenix, touched down in Bozeman, central Montana, where they met with the Phoenix's designer and pilot, Zefram Cochrane. This event is generally referred to as the defining moment in human history, eventually paving the way for a unified world government and, later, the United Federation of Planets.
2143 - The NX program breaks the Warp 2 barrier with the NX-Alpha pathfinder vessel. Piloted by A.G. Robinson, NX-Alpha breaks apart after it reaches Warp 2.2. Shortly after, Jonathan Archer and Robinson achieve Warp 2.5 with NX-Beta on an unauthorized flight. The NX prototypes are grounded for three months after the incident.
2144 - Duvall breaks the Warp 3 barrier in the NX-Delta, after eight months of pressure from the Vulcans to conduct further simulations.
2149 - The construction of Enterprise, Earth's first warp 5-capable starship begins.
2150 - The United Earth Government is established.
2151 - Commissioned in 2151, Enterprise NX-01 was the first starship of the NX class, Starfleet's first long-range exploration vessels with a theoretical top speed of warp 5, considerably faster than any other human vessels of the era. Enterprise was launched from the Warp Five Complex on April 12, 2151 under the command of Captain Jonathan Archer.
2152 - The first known contact between vessels representing Earth and the Romulan Star Empire occurs. Visual contact between crews is not made.
2153 - Earth is attacked by a Xindi superweapon from the Delphic Expanse, launched by the Xindi. The attack decimates a large area between Florida and Venezuela, killing 7 million people
2154 - The 5th NX class vessel, the Endeavour, is launched from the Warp Five Complex, under the command of Captain John Taggart.
2155 - The Coalition of Planets is founded. The founding members include Humans, Vulcans, Andorians, Tellarites, Rigelians, Denobulans and the Coridanites
